With SalonLabs, You Too Can Be Becky With the Good Hair

LAS VEGAS—Information technology is a truth universally known that those tiny free bottles of hotel shampoo are crap. There'south never enough, they exit your pilus feeling filmy, and it's almost worth jumping through the TSA's conduct-on hoops to have the expert stuff from home. So you tin imagine the ungodly dissonance I made when I heard Schwarzkopfpro's Salon Labs could custom mix a shampoo based on my own hair at CES 2022.

CES 2022 bug artHow does information technology piece of work? Well it'due south a three-stage process. The first part involves scanning a client's pilus using a Schwarzkopf Professional SalonLab Analyzer. At the demo, celebrity hairstylist Kim Vo kickoff created a client profile for me based on a few queries. Things like whether or non I've had my hair treated, and the wellness of my scalp. He then used the Analyzer to accept readings from my roots and ends. Basically, the device uses near infrared spectroscopy to help hairdressers measure and evaluate the inside of your pilus. Information technology's also capable of determining the exact shade of your hair.

The whole process was painless and relatively quick. The data was then run through Schwarzkopf's algorithms to determine my pilus's overall condition and wet. Once everything was done, I could so get a consultation through Salon Labs's app, which uses augmented reality to let y'all exactly how a color might plough out.

Based on your contour, the SalonLabs Customizer can so mix a custom-fabricated shampoo (or any other liquid-based dazzler production) that's particularly made for your hair's biometric makeup. In the app, you can also select your shampoo's fragrance profile—I chose "fresh." (The Customizer itself looks every bit if it came straight out of HBO's Westworld opening sequence.) After mixing my shampoo, it then printed a custom characterization with my proper name and a barcode, which can be used to reorder my specific mix.

If y'all're wondering how much personalized beauty might cost you, it depends on your relationship with your hairdresser. SalonLabs is more or less for commercial use and pricing for hair analysis, consultation, and any custom products will be at the hairdresser's discretion. I haven't gotten a chance to test out how well the shampoo works—simply I'grand willing to bet it'south better than whatever'southward waiting for me back at my hotel room.
